Good question. We all talk about going to the cloud and what a wonderful place it is. Making everything so convenient. Like when you get asked for a copy of a document from four years ago and you know you filed it somewhere. Well if you have them all in the cloud you could use your phone to find it, attach to an email and send, or just print it. Doesn’t matter what you do with it, it is available to you.
Also it is an awesome off-site background for things like photos. Upload them to the cloud and who cares if your laptop dies, just get a new one, log back in to your cloud provider and there you go, all back.
But what about the cost. You don’t really want to subscribe to a cloud provider and then pay them every single month for the rest of your life or your data is gone. So how about some free services. Here is a list with the relevant weblinks for cloud storage that is free and available to you right now.
Provider | Free Storage | Web Link |
Mega | 20 GB | https://mega.io |
Google Drive | 15 GB | https://drive.google.com |
Media Fire | 10 GB | https://www.mediafire.com/upgrade/?promo=1& |
pCloud | 10 GB | https://www.pcloud.com/ |
Ice Drive | 10 GB | https://icedrive.net/ |
One Drive | 10 GB | https://onedrive.com |
iCloud | 5 GB | https://icloud.com |
Sync | 5 GB | https://sync.com |
Dropbox | 2 GB | https://dropbox.com |
Which one is best? To be fair they are all good. Some standouts to note are pCloud as they offer a one fee ‘lifetime’ plan which gets you away from the monthly subscription for ever. Then there is OneDrive that is from Microsoft so you know that company will be there forever. Google is the same but we have seen changes coming down the pipe that alter things as it used to be free unlimited storage for photos until recently.
Either way, these plans do give you the option to try them out for yourself and make up your own mind. If you have any thoughts around good or bad them drop your note in the comments section. Until then, see ya.
